We Love Spring At Waterfront Park

Greetings from Waterfront Park! For the second year in a row, Waterfront Park was honored by USA Today as one of the nation’s 10 Best Riverwalks finishing at #4 this year, two places higher than we ranked last year. Events are now in full swing and we are excited to present the first “normal” event season since 2019. Things started off with a bang on one of the most beautiful days we’ve ever had for Thunder Over Louisville – the sun was shining, the atmosphere was festive, and spirits were high. After everything we’ve been through over the past few years, we all needed and deserved a beautiful day to come together as a community in celebration, and we are proud that it happened here at Waterfront Park.
We are also thrilled to report we will receive $10 million from the Commonwealth of Kentucky for our $50 million 22-acre park expansion between 10th and 14th Streets. With the $6 million we received from Louisville Metro and $5.75 million raised in private funds, this brings our total raised to date to $21.75 million! We are grateful to our leaders in state and local government and the individuals and organizations who have supported this project for believing in the value of Waterfront Park and the recognition of the benefits Waterfront Park provides to the people of Kentucky. We plan to break ground later this year on the first component, PlayWorks at Waterfront Park, a collaboration with Kentucky Science Center. Read more about PlayWorks below and stay tuned for updates!
