The Big Stomp (formerly known as PeteFest), the nation’s first music festival to focus on mental health, is returning to Louisville this summer July 26-27th. This year’s Festival is moving its location to the Brown-Forman Amphitheater in Waterfront Park in order to enhance the overall Big Stomp experience and provide a more accessible festival for all. The Brown-Forman Amphitheater is located on the east side of the park and offers stunning views of the Ohio River, downtown Louisville skyline and the Big Four Bridge.
“We are really excited for the opportunity to partner with Waterfront Park, and the venue change will not impact this year’s dates, lineup or opportunity to participate in our many unique mental health activations to help “Stomp the Stigma,” said Molly Jones, COO of The Pete Foundation.
The Big Stomp also recently added two new artists to the lineup including J.Roddy Walston and Grammy Nominated Poetic Voice Artist Sekou Andrews. The expanded event will feature more than 30 acts across three stages including headliners BADBADNOTGOOD, St. Paul & The Broken Bones, The Black Angels and Bully. Other acts include Ben Sollee, Saxsquatch, the Biblehauser Brothers, Doom Gong, White Whooly, Lacey Guthrie, So it Was, Shannon Vetter and the Sleepless Pilgrims, Pleasure Boys, Future Killer, Yapa and more. Local electronic music ambassadors Transmit Productions have curated the vastest collection of world-class electronic music artists to grace a local festival in our beloved city’s history.
Now in its eighth year, The Big Stomp began as an annual outreach event for The Pete Foundation, a 501(c)3 organization dedicated to destigmatizing mental health and expanding access to mental health crisis intervention. About far more than just music, The Big Stomp is an immersive community experience geared toward fostering a more open and thoughtful conversation around mental health. Merging entertainment and education, fans will not only enjoy two days of live music, local food and beverage, but also have the opportunity to learn about healthy habits, practices, and mindfulness through various activities.
Two-day weekend passes start at $79.00, and youth passes (Ages 0-14 years) are free with a paid adult pass. Big Bundle VIP weekend pass is $220. Full ticket details can be found online at TheBigStomp.com.
The annual event was founded as an extension of The Pete Foundation’s work to destigmatize mental health and provide awareness of much-needed community resources. The foundation was created by the Jones family following the loss of their 23-year-old son, Pete in 2016. Like many survivors, the Jones family channeled their immense loss into motivation to support others who may find themselves in a similar position. Throughout the year, in addition to The Big Stomp, the foundation offers a number of resources to the community, including hosting regular QPR Trainings, a nationally-recognized, evidence-based practice for those who desire to learn the warning signs of a suicide crisis and how to respond to it.
