Celebrate Community and Explore Upcoming Events at Waterfront Park
A message from our Executive Director, Deborah Bilitski:
Let’s talk about the elephant in the park. As most of you know by now, Pig Beach BBQ made the decision to close its doors this past weekend. Of course, I am disappointed. At the same time, though, I’m filled with a renewed excitement for the opportunity this presents for the community because I know we can work together to make sure this space is successful with the right partner(s) dedicated to enhancing all the wonderful things we have happening in the park.
Waterfront Park is fortunate to be part of a giving and supportive community. Every day of every year we strive to maintain a space where people can enjoy the beauty of the city’s most visited urban park. Steps away from high rises and office buildings, Waterfront Park is an oasis years in the making. And the list of activities coming up is seemingly endless, with the Mayor’s Hike, Bike and Paddle, WFPK Waterfront Wednesday, the Fleur de Flea Vintage Urban Market, the Big Four Arts Festival and more!
The park is for the community, and it is the community’s sense of pride and ownership that makes it such a special place. This was evident in our recent day of service with Humana volunteers, as well as the efforts of other corporate partners and individual volunteers throughout the year. We extend our heartfelt thanks to all the volunteers who have dedicated their time and effort to making Waterfront Park a better place. Your service is invaluable and deeply appreciated.
This spirit of community support is also why the annual Give for Good initiative by the Community Foundation of Louisville is so critical. In one day, the entire community comes together to support so many important nonprofit organizations that benefit so many people. We certainly hope you will participate in Give for Good on September 12 so Waterfront Park can continue to serve as a critical community gathering spot for many years to come.
