A message from our Executive Director, Deborah Bilitski:
Dear Friends of Waterfront Park,
The past month has been one for the record books at Waterfront Park for sure. On March 26, we had the grand opening of PlayPort, which was a beautiful and joyous community celebration. On the heels of that, we experienced the most significant flood event in the park’s 25-year history, which then caused the cancellation of Thunder Over Louisville. And then yesterday, Waterfront Park was named Best Riverwalk in the country! Talk about a roller coaster.
We have been moved by the incredible outpouring of support and encouragement from the community throughout this historic flood event. We are so grateful to everyone who pitched in to help clean up our beautiful park last weekend and to everyone who has offered to help moving forward as we begin the process of restoring this space to its former glory. Your time and care in helping us protect and care for our waterfront is deeply appreciated.
Your support also energizes us as we gear up for our busy event season at Waterfront Park. From the Waterfront Wednesday season kickoff to the lively Kentucky Derby Festival events, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. At Waterfront Park, community connection remains at the heart of everything we do, and we can’t wait to share these events with you.
Let’s continue to make this season one to remember (in a good way though, please!). To ensure you don’t miss out on a moment of excitement, bookmark our Event Calendar and stay tuned to our socials.
