Join us for our annual race that brings together survivors, fighters, advocates, healthcare providers and community partners to eliminate preventable colon cancer death and suffering.
This year’s theme is “Beat the Clock!” The Kicking Butt 5K is all about raising awareness that colon cancer can be prevented through timely screening. Screening starts at age 45 or younger if you have a family history. You have the power to prevent an unnecessary colon cancer diagnosis! Eat healthy, learn the symptoms of colon cancer, listen to your body, and get screened on time.

The Colon Cancer Prevention Project started in 2004, when only 1 in 3 Kentuckians were getting life-saving colon cancer screenings. Now, about 2 in 3 Kentuckians are getting screened, and the incidence rate is down more than 25%. Kentucky is now nationally renowned for its work, which includes a state-wide screening program for low-income, uninsured people. The American Cancer Society estimates the diagnosis of 97,220 new cases of colon cancer and 43,030 new cases of rectal cancer in 2018. Colorectal cancer is the third leading cause of cancer-related deaths in women in the United States and the second leading cause in men. An expected 50,630 will die of colorectal cancer during 2018. We’re out to change those statistics, join us! Together we will stop this cancerous killer!
